Kim Kardahian Hollywood-August Update
The August update for Kim Kardashian Hollywood is here! Aside from a new location where we can film street fashion shoots (alas, I have yet to be offered one by Simon and I don't have any new storylines), there is a reason to go house hunting: international locations for our reality shows! Each location gives us a new achievement (Big in Japan, etc), plus five of those locations are eligible for product placement deals. The best news about it though: Players can finally choose where they want to shoot from a pull down menu, instead of repeatedly asking Matthew until the location they want to shoot in comes up.
The new location, Havana, has three tappables for energy (the bike, the car, the crab), as well as a PopGlam outpost, a new $120,000 home, and Alejandro's. Alejandro's appears to have only one activity costing $75 (note: this is based on only two dates and there's a chance this information could be incorrect), so make sure you have a full energy bar before you head there.
The other notable part of this update is the Karl Lagerfeld shop in Paris has been replaced by Balmain, and new Balmain clothes are coming. Personally, I am dying for these thigh-high boots and am desperately hoping they're included:
There weren't too many clothes in the update. I was extremely happy to see the $750 shorts, since I was about to plunk down 35 K Stars for another pair. Some other notable additions:
Finally, there won't be a review this Friday. I've been working on a video for our coming YouTube channel and haven't devoted a lot of time to review new apps.

Kim Kardashian Hollywood: Second Marriage and VIP Weekend UPDATE: Confirmed!
Welcome back to Freemium Queen! Today's topic is remarriage in Kim Kardashian Hollywood.
Many KKH players get married fairly early on in their game. For those who haven't taken the plunge yet, here's a brief recap: The first marriage is the most expensive and time-consuming, with challenges that must be completed within a short window. After you become engaged, Kim invites you to her home and tells you to buy a dress. You then have your pick of two $9995, two 90 K Star, and one 120 K Star dress, plus three optional hairstyles at 50 K Stars each. But once you buy this dress, the clock starts ticking. Your wedding planner calls you and tells you that Crystal Fletcher and Chad Dylan Parker are going to snap it up unless you come up with $7500 in 24 hours. You will lose fans if you don't hand over the money. After you pay, you have some gigs to perform before the wedding. While you're performing these gigs, you can pay for items to decorate your venue--but if you don't decorate at all, there are no consequences. Once you are finished decorating, you can get married. After the ceremony, Maria calls you and tells you that nasty rumors are being spread about your union and you and your spouse have to do some more gigs within 24 hours. If you don't complete these gigs, there are no consequences, but you will miss out on the K Stars and rewards at the end of the challenge. TIP: You can tell Simon to call you back later when he calls you about other gigs. Then change screens and he will offer you the wedding gig (assuming it's marked "available soon").
For any player who has not married in their game yet, I would recommend not getting hitched until you have bought a private jet (120 K Stars) and a vehicle ($20000 and up), as well as 999 points' worth of Gold Star and Gold Heart clothing. If you're constantly scrambling for gigs and waiting for your energy bar to refill, having to date your spouse every day can feel like a burden. If you want to rid yourself of your spouse, either stop dating them (eventually they will divorce you, costing you fans) or delete them from your phone.
Which brings us to today's topic: remarriage. Find a new NPC or friend, fill up the relationship bar to 200 or more to trigger a proposal, and get engaged. Your wedding planner will call and ask you to look at the venue. You can then redecorate (or not) and buy a new dress (or not).
After the ceremony, Daisy (Kim's crazy British friend) will call and ask you and your new spouse to perform as her fairy tale couple. After two gigs (a photo shoot and an appearance), you will learn that you lost the film role to Crystal and Chad Dylan Parker.
This weekend will be a VIP weekend, where players can earn items by spending their K Stars. These images, found here, show what the girls can expect:

Kim Kardashian Hollywood July Update
Kim Kardashian Hollywood 5.2.0 was released yesterday (get it here) and this post will review some of the new elements:
First, let's look at the new location, Reykjavik, which sits next to Tokyo in the list. The tappables are the BENCH, the POTTED TREE, and the PUFFIN. The three new locations are Pop Glam Magazine, Blue Mist Spa (a dating site), and your own bar, the Ice Club. The Ice Club costs 50 K Stars and you get the chance to do a weekly three-hour gig as a bartender. You can also buy items in the club (DJ booths, etc) that will allow you to work more weekly gigs at the club. There is also a new polar bear pet.
Now let's look at the reality show shake-up. Your show will now appear on the list of top shows:
Note that KKH is awarding viewers for 8-hour tapings. I had a few 3-hour gigs done prior to the update which rewarded me with a few hundred fans on the A-E list and a similar number of viewers. This was enough to get me onto the top 500 when the reactions to the second or third gig was published.
Another large component of this month's update is the product placement. It seems that the way this will work is that you can have one show sponsorship deal at a time and they will place their product on a table in your home (you might have to buy the table if you do not already own it) and will reward you prizes based on that.
There were some smaller parts of this update. There are some new endorsements. Karl Lagerfeld has a boutique space next to Femme in Paris but it is closed as of 6.28.
And who is she?
There are also a few new clothing items: a hairstyle costing 25 K Stars and the following:

Kim Kardashian Hollywood: The Alvin Greene Quest
Kim Kardashian Hollywood has a lot of quests. One of the more expensive and involved ones is the Alvin Greene quest.
Sometimes in KKH, you meet people who require K Stars or energy. Alvin Greene requires both, so try to keep ten K Stars on hand during this quest. Alvin Greene is a big-shot producer who needs to be convinced that you're Hollywood material. You convince him by charming him (using either stars or energy bolts) and by doing appearances and small acting gigs.
As a general rule in Kim Kardashian Hollywood, when the option to use bolts instead of K Stars appears, using the bolts will simply give you another gig. Since there is no incentive to finishing the quest early, we would advise saving your stars.

Kim Kardashian Hollywood and Pets
Welcome back to Freemium Queen! Generally, we bring you a daily tip for the previous week's reviewed game. But since Find a Difference #15 is fairly self-explanatory, we will be bringing you a tip for KKH each day instead.
Pet ownership is quite rewarding in Kim Kardashian Hollywood--literally. Tapping your pets every four hours will bring you XP, cash, and energy bolts. Tapping the paw logo above the pet will allow you to take the pet with you (outdoors only). In addition, purchasing the pets in the first place will allow you to earn points toward the Pet Whisperer achievement, as well as adding gold hearts or stars.
An incomplete list of pets by location and cost:
This list will be updated in the near future as I play through.

Thursday's Tip - Kim Kardashian Hollywood
This is the final tip for our game of the week, Kim Kardashian Hollywood! Check back tomorrow for a review of RockYou's Shipwrecked: Volcano Island.
Most of the locations in the game are shops, bars, homes, or gig locations. However, the Grand Sultan Hotel in New Delhi is locked at all times--perhaps a future update will give us challenges here. You may have also noticed that the apartment suite by the airport and the home in Calabasas are locked. Once you reach a high enough level with your significant other, you will be able to access the LAX-adjacent suite (if they are below A List) or the house in Calabasas (if they are on the A List).
You cannot interact with your significant other in these locations, except during the quests leading up to your wedding.

Wednesday's Tip - Kim Kardashian Hollywood
Every day this week, we will be sharing a new tip for the game of the week. You can see the full review of Kim Kardashian Hollywood here.
Dating can be very expensive. If you're saving your money, go on dates at Restaurant Asadaux in Dubai. While the other locations have many expensive tasks, there is only one activity for $75 here, and your character will be able to avoid that easily.

Tuesday's Tip - Kim Kardashian Hollywood
Every day this week, we will share a new tip for last Friday's featured game, Kim Kardashian Hollywood.
It can be frustrating to go to bed or someplace where you can't play your game when you have a full energy bar. Working a short shift at Kardash or So Chic will allow you to spend the energy. There are no consequences for earning only a few stars on your shift, so you don't need to worry about losing fans. However, your pay is based on the number of stars you earn, so choose the shortest shift.

Monday's Tip - Kim Kardashian Hollywood
We covered Kim Kardashian Hollywood in depth last Friday and will be bringing you a new KKH game tip each day.
Every few hours, a reality show camera crew runs into you on the street. They will be accompanied by your colleagues, rivals, and VIPs. You will be asked a question, but the rewards are random and range from 1 XP + $1 to several dollars, XP, and a K Star. There is no right or wrong way to answer and rewards might vary each time you give the same answer.

Sunday's Tip - Kim Kardashian Hollywood
Every day this week, we will have a new tip from the previous week's reviewed game. This week, our game was Kim Kardashian Hollywood.
When you're in a public place and see someone you've met previously, always stop and chat! In addition to shaving a few seconds off of your energy refill, you will add points to your relationship score. This score builds and when you have enough, you will earn K Stars and XP.

Saturday's Tip - Kim Kardashian Hollywood
Every day this week, we will share a new tip for Kim Kardashian Hollywood. The complete review of this app can be found here.
Today's tip explains Luxe Goals. Every time you go to a new location, there is a random chance of your publicist Maria telling you to purchase an item of clothing, home decor, even new homes or vehicles. Buying the item costs you cash or stars, but awards you XP, stars, and energy. Once the goal is given, you have a short window of time in which to complete it. If you can afford it, this is an effortless way to level up.

Kim Kardashian Hollywood for Android Review
Welcome to Freemium Queen, where a new review of an Android
game will appear every Friday. First up, we revisit the smash of summer 2014,
Kim Kardashian Hollywood, which can be downloaded for Android here. The basic premise of the game is that Kim Kardashian West dashes into the shop where you work and begs for a dress for an event. You handle her request so well that she decides you’re her new protégé. From
then on, you perform tasks given to you by Kim, your new manager and publicist,
and various Kardashian relatives and hangers-on. The ultimate goal is to make
it to the top of the A List, which you do by winning over fans (over 200
million of them). You do this by making appearances, performing on your reality
show, dating and procreating, and even by buying new homes and clothing.
The game is updated once a month by the developer, Glu
Mobile, and players who let their games go dormant may have missed new cities and challenges.
The newest update includes partnerships with in-game brands
that award K Stars and items. It remains to be seen how these partnerships will
work, but there seem to be three tiers (bronze, silver, and gold), which can be
achieved through working gigs or received in the daily gift box.
Players who have not downloaded the June update yet are
missing some new features such as the ability to take your pet on the road with you,
partnerships with in-game brands that award K stars and items, and reality show
bits in which Kardashians, colleagues, and friends surprise you on the street
with a camera crew.
The June update also includes a collaboration with makeup
brand NARS that enables your character to wear their makeup and promote their
products at events. Changing your lipstick and eye shadow are usually free, but
the NARS shades sell for 80-120 K Stars. This equates to roughly $8-12 US.
For the new player, learning the game is a snap. Most
concepts are explained clearly. However, the locations are frequently omitted from the goal instructions and players may find themselves struggling to remember where there next gig is located. One thing new players
should be aware of is that all challenges are timed, but purchasing items with
gold star logos will allow the player to expend less energy.
Whether or not one is fan of the Kardashians is almost
secondary to the enjoyment of the game. Sure, you frequently have to party with
them or work for them or find their mom’s missing earrings, but their general
presence isn’t too grating. The sole exception to this is Khloe, who frequently
uses terms like “ratchet” and “ghetto,” and who keeps trying to use your
character as a human shield when creepy guys are around. Seriously.
The game also gives you adversaries—Willow Pape, an actress
who is a little more famous than you, and Chad Dylan Parker and Crystal
Fletcher rival you when you’re in a couple. All three (and their media allies)
can tweet mean things about you, causing you to lose fans. You and your
romantic partner do not tweet and their status on the List does not change
yours. The other NPCs you meet at clubs and bars do not tweet either, but are
worth meeting. When you work a gig, you can call the NPCs who can help
(stylists at fashion shows or pop singers at promotional appearances, for
example). You can even meet agronomists and funeral directors, even though they
can’t help you at gigs. Friends who play can also be used to help at
appearances.
There are a few frustrating areas of the game, however.
There has been an ongoing issue with adding friends through Google Plus,
although this does not seem to affect Apple Game Center or Facebook players.
Multiple ongoing goals and challenges can leave the casual player confused,
especially when the goals are time-limited and disappear before all of the
tasks can be performed. Finally, players must further their careers and date
their partners daily, or find themselves single and losing fans.
In addition to working, players can throw parties where they
invite up to two people they know. Unlike gigs, you can invite anyone you want
to your parties. So call that funeral director! You may also call VIPs (like
the Kardashians or Nene Leakes) for hangouts to help you earn prizes at future
gigs.
Kim Kardashian Hollywood was a guilty pleasure when it first came out, and is worth revisiting as it nears its two year anniversary.
Kim K Hollywood at a Glance
Category: Adventure
Developer: Glu Mobile
Is it worth playing? Yes, if you are able to check back in a
few times during gigs.
What is the time commitment for this game? The game does not
require much strategy and energy is disposed of fairly quickly. However, users
who do not check in daily lose fans. If your character is in a relationship and
does not date their partner daily, they will get dumped. This game is best for
users who can check in multiple times per day.
How long does it take for free games/energy to refill? Five
minutes per bolt, with five seconds shaved off the total every time you click a
star, heart, XP coin, or dollar bill. There is an energy storage limit of 35.
How intrusive are the ads? Very. The app often shows ads
when leaving a room or city, but will occasionally show ads at other times.
Political ads are shown.
How is premium currency earned? Completing challenges and
earning achievements bestow a small amount of K Stars. There is also a chance
that the daily gift box or the slot machine in Las Vegas will give you K Stars.
You can also earn K Stars by watching six ads per day, with one K Star awarded
per advertisement. You may also earn currency by filling out surveys (note: the
survey this reviewer took went through several pages before asking for credit
card information for a free trial, which was not mentioned before that page),
downloading other apps, and buying products.
Top tip: Save 120 K Stars for the private jet! The ability
to fly around the world picking up energy can be a lifesaver during gigs and
dates.
Does the game utilize Google Play Games? Yes
Does the game grant achievements? Yes
What permissions does the app ask?
